Joseph J. Fox, Jr., a graduate of Frostburg State University, was a dedicated educator who understood that reading skills were necessary for students to succeed in academic content areas, enjoy life-long learning and receive pleasure from reading books and other written materials. During his twenty year career as a middle school English teacher in Frederick County Public Schools, he encouraged students and other teachers to reach for these goals.  Mr. Fox became very active in SoMIRAC from its very beginning. He served as president of the local Frederick County Reading Council, as well as president of SoMIRAC, and as State Coordinator where he served as our liaison with the International Reading Association. He was a man of integrity whose commitment and contagious enthusiasm inspired those of us who knew him and had the opportunity to work with him.
