The Eastern Shore Literacy Association (ESLA) proudly joins Maryland First Lady Dawn Moore in promoting #ReadMoreMaryland, a statewide literacy campaign designed to encourage families, educators, and communities to celebrate the joy and importance of reading throughout the month of March.
The #ReadMoreMaryland initiative invites Marylanders to share a photo or video of themselves reading with a loved one, tag three others to participate, and use the hashtag #ReadMoreMaryland on social media. The campaign highlights Maryland’s continued commitment to improving literacy outcomes while emphasizing the critical role reading plays in building student confidence, expanding knowledge, and fostering a lifelong love of learning.
As part of this initiative, five young Maryland readers and their families will be selected and invited to Annapolis to share their favorite book with First Lady Moore—an opportunity that celebrates student voice and the power of literacy across the state.
The Eastern Shore Literacy Association encourages schools, educators, and community members across the region to actively participate and showcase the meaningful reading experiences taking place in their classrooms and homes.
How to Participate in the #ReadMoreMaryland Challenge:
- Post a photo or video of students and colleagues reading in your school (please ensure all individuals are media-approved)
- Share a moment of reading a favorite book with family or loved ones
- Use the hashtag #ReadMoreMaryland and tag three others to join the challenge
- Encourage continued participation by inviting others to share their reading experiences
Through collective participation, the Eastern Shore community can help inspire a culture of literacy, demonstrating how local schools are empowering students to read more, learn more, and dream bigger.
