SoMLA Networking Event Set at Chesapeake College Nov. 2nd

The State of Maryland Literacy Association (SoMLA) is pleased to announce an upcoming event on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Chesapeake College. This gathering offers a unique opportunity for Maryland organizations to network and collaborate on supporting literacy initiatives and programs.

The event will feature a presentation by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), focusing on “The Blueprint for Maryland’s Future” and the Comprehensive PreK-3 Literacy Policy. These initiatives aim to transform Maryland’s education system into a world-class model. Following the MSDE presentation, there will be a question-and-answer session, allowing organizations to gain a deeper understanding of how they can contribute to this significant milestone in education.

Participants are encouraged to share insights about their organizations and current literacy initiatives through short presentations lasting 3-5 minutes. This format will facilitate meaningful connections and discussions among attendees.

SoMLA is grateful for the support of its sponsor, Collaborative Classroom, and invites all interested parties to RSVP to ensure accommodation for all participants. A link for reservations will be provided in the coming weeks.

An agenda detailing the event’s schedule will be distributed prior to the meeting. For inquiries, attendees may contact Sandy Keaton at keatonsomla@gmail.com or Autumn Smith at membership@somla.online.
